Happy Pride Month 2023

AWN June Newsletter

Dear Friend,

Hi, I’m Erin, and as a neurodivergent artist, I wanted to wish you a happy Pride Month. I’ve been the Art Director for AWN since 2016, and in that time I’ve enjoyed making joyous and inclusive art depicting the neurodivergent LGBTQIAP+ community. I also manage our merch shop on RedBubble, where you can get Pride stickers, t-shirts, mugs, and more year-round!

June is also a very important month for fundraising for AWN, as all month we’re running a Give Out fundraiser to support our work for neurodivergent LGBTQIAP+ people (check out the Give Out graphic I made below!). Right now AWN’s four-person policy team is focused on fighting the avalanche of legislative attacks on trans people, and attempts to stifle discussions of LGBTQIAP+ people in schools. And our Community Outreach Coordinator Lei, together with her trans daughter Maddy, are hard at work developing a guide to help parents better support autistic trans youth.

Today, I’m asking you to consider donating to our Give Out campaign to support this work with the trans/queer community. Give Out is a national campaign of LGBTQIAP+ giving with many other organizations participating, and there’s some friendly competition too — every donation we get advances our place in the leaderboard rankings, and if we reach first, second, or third place, we will receive extra donations!

Please donate to our Give Out campaign today with a donation of $50, $20, or whatever you can afford.

Support Autistic Trans Youth. June 2023. All month long. Give OUT with AWN.

Another way you can support us is also to pick up some merch from our Redbubble store! We’re constantly updating it, and just last week we released a new “Support Autistic Trans Youth” t-shirt and sticker, and several other LGBTQIAP+ pride items! So if you want to show your pride this month, please check out our store, including this new design:

I’ve been with AWN for over 7 years, and I’m so grateful to be working for an organization that is committed to uplifting and supporting the voices of marginalized disabled people, including LGBTQIAP+ people. Thank you for being part of this community with me.

Erin
